Ronald de Hommel set up a big multi media project together with several other photographers and journalists called ‘Disputed Waters’. Célia Pernot is the first other Babel photographer who has joined the project. She will cover the Jordan River in May 2011. Ronald will visit the Mekong at the same time.
Sébastien Sindieu presents his multi-year project Detroit(s). He visited several straits surrounding Europe. This resulted in a book and a spectacular website. He is working on expanding the project with a big exhibition in 2012.
Ludovic Maillard keeps a photoblog on the website of LeMonde.fr called Traverses. Currently he is traversing the French countryside for the collective Babel-Photo project about agriculture.
Chroniques agricoles
Nous avons mené, pendant toute l’année 2011, un travail documentaire autour du monde agricole. Il s’articule autour de trois grands axes : le paysage, les métiers et la mémoire.
La diversité des sujets traités (silos et bâtiments agricoles, maraîchage, apiculture, élevage, transhumance, école de la ferme) offre une vision riche et dynamique, en termes de rapport au territoire, connaissance des métiers de l’agriculture, gestion raisonnée des ressources.
Des résidences photographiques en Loir-et-Cher complètent et enrichissent la réflexion déjà menée au niveau national. L’originalité de ce projet réside dans l’interaction du territoire local avec le national, intéressant ainsi un large public de néophytes et de professionnels.

Disputed Waters, de Ronald de Hommel
Disputed waters is a multi media project where journalists and photographers 
explore stories about transboundary rivers where water may become a source of conflict due to climate change and an increasing world population.
This project of which Babel-Photographer Ronald de Hommel is a co-founder is a move towards more slow journalism. To produce these in depth journalistic reports he and his colleagues try to finance their trips through crowdfunding and publications in international media.
